Alex Vakartzas is probably most known for his time spent in one of the most notable early 2000s metalcore / "mallcore scene kid" bands, Atreyu. Alex spent over 20 years in that group, releasing classics such as their debut LP "Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses" in 2002 and (in our opinion) most notably "The Curse" which followed their debut. For one reason of another Alex and the band split, which we discussed, and after a few years away from music Alex has returned in a new heavier project, Dead Icarus. We also talked about his hobbies, such as painting and pop art, training martial arts, and dogs.
